Let’s Do Wild, Meaningful, Cool Sh*t Together.

Your life isn’t ordinary. Your travel shouldn’t be either.

Hi, I’m Christine Burns, founder of Lady NoKids.

I believe women are meant for extraordinary lives. And women without children often have the leverage — time, capital, flexibility — to design them boldly.

I build catalytic experiences. Shared firsts that turn into lifelong partnerships — in business, in friendship, in adventure.

It may not be your first safari.

But it may be your first one with women like this.

My mission is to support, elevate, and build infrastructure for women without children — globally — where none currently exists.

Kenya is part of that build.

The first time I went on safari, it rearranged me.

I had stepped out of a fast-paced city life — meetings, airports, deadlines — and suddenly I was sitting in a jeep watching a lion move through grass that had existed long before any skyline ever rose. These animals have been here for eons. The ecosystem functions with or without our urgency. The circle of life is not a metaphor there — it’s visible. Brutal. Beautiful. Birth. Death. Stillness. Power.

And in that detachment from the day-to-day noise, something shifts.

You realize how small your stress is — and how big your life could be.

That perspective alone is transformative.

A Lady NoKids Experience

I didn’t design the Lady NoKids Kenya Expedition to be just another luxury trip. I designed it for women who are building extraordinary lives outside the default script.

We’ll spend our days on safari in one of the most breathtaking landscapes on earth, surrounded by wildlife, wide horizons, and the kind of perspective you only get when you step far away from your normal life.

And along the way, I’ll guide a few intentional Life Design conversations —  powerful moments over dinner, around the fire, or after a day in the bush where we pause and ask better questions: What does the next chapter of your life actually look like? Where are you investing your time, energy, and freedom? What kind of legacy are you creating beyond traditional frameworks?

Kenya has a way of making the world feel bigger and your thinking clearer. Add a small group of curious, independent women from the Lady NoKids community, and something special happens: you return home not just with incredible memories, but with a sharper sense of the life you’re building next.

Lion in Africa.

Meet Laura

Heyyyy ladies!

I’m a travel business owner from Eau Claire, Wisconsin who designs boutique group trips that help people experience the world in a deeper, more meaningful way. My goal with every trip is to create immersive travel experiences where you connect with a destination, its culture, and the people you’re traveling with.

As someone who is also childfree, I’m especially excited to support Christine and the Lady No Kids community in bringing this group together. I deeply believe in the power of creating spaces where women with shared lifestyles and perspectives can travel and connect.

Christine will be leading this trip and hosting the group experience, while I’ll be working behind the scenes coordinating logistics and making sure everything runs smoothly so you can focus on enjoying the adventure.

Why Travel to Kenya With Us:

Kenya is a breathtaking destination known for its incredible wildlife, diverse landscapes, and rich cultural heritage.

You literally just have to show up.

Pack your bags (we'll tell you exactly what to bring) and book that flight (yep, got tips for that too). Everything else? That's our problem now. Your only job is to show up ready for adventure.

We've done the homework so you don't have to.

Visas? Vaccines? What to wear when you're meeting a Maasai elder? We’ve figured out all the annoying details and potential awkward moments ahead of time. Because we scout every trip first, you get to skip the tourist traps and rookie mistakes we've already made for you.

No more waiting on flaky friends.

We've all been there - that group chat that starts with "Let's plan a trip!" and ends in radio silence. Not here. The dates are set, the itinerary is locked in, and your adventure squad is ready to go.

Small group = Big experiences.

Forget those massive tour buses. We keep it intimate (10-15 people max) because you can't exactly have a heart-to-heart conversation with 40 strangers or get invited into someone's home for tea when you roll up with a small army.

Make an actual difference (not just Instagram stories about it).

This isn't about drive-by tourism or performative do-gooding. We're talking real connections with local communities, authentic cultural exchanges, and meaningful ways to give back that actually help rather than hurt.

Finally get photos you won’t hate in 5 years.

Let's be honest - we all want at least a few shots that make our friends jealous. I've got you covered with photos that capture the real you having the time of your life (not just awkward poses in front of landmarks). Check out some photos of past adventurers.

What is Overlanding?

Overlanding is the spirit of adventure that comes from exploring a destination by road, traveling together through incredible landscapes in a specially equipped safari vehicle.

Think of it as the ultimate road trip through the wild. Each day you’ll head out across Kenya’s national parks and countryside, spotting wildlife, taking in dramatic scenery, and experiencing places far beyond the typical tourist path.

While traditional overlanding often involves camping, this journey blends that same adventurous energy with upgraded safari lodges and glamping accommodations along the way. You’ll spend your days exploring the wild and your evenings relaxing, sharing stories from the day’s sightings, and enjoying great meals together.

It’s the perfect mix of expedition and comfort—the magic of the journey, with a soft place to land each night.

Here's what to expect:

  • Experience Kenya’s incredible wildlife while enjoying comfortable, upgraded accommodations each night. Throughout the journey, we’ll stay in a mix of thoughtfully selected safari lodges and permanent tented camps that offer real beds, electricity, and modern amenities while still immersing you in the natural surroundings.

These accommodations capture the magic of safari living without sacrificing comfort. Many feature spacious tented suites or lodge-style rooms with ensuite or shared bathroom facilities, hot showers, and inviting common areas where the group can relax and swap stories after a day on safari.

It’s the perfect balance of adventure during the day and comfort at night.

    • Prepare fresh local dishes with our professionally trained private chefs (no instant ramen here–the food is phenomenal!)

    • Dine together at camp tables and roadside stops

    • Some camps will have a restaurant and bar available

    • Morning coffee/tea around the campfire

    • Evening storytelling under the stars

“Meeting Laura has legitimately changed my life for the better. I went on her Morocco trip & it felt like a dream. Having everything pre-planned & details figured out made for a stress free experience that gave me the opportunity to really enjoy & immerse myself in every moment. I not only learned so much about a misunderstood culture, but I learned so much about myself. I daydream about the trip every day & find myself looking for excuses to talk to anyone about it. I cannot wait for my next Laura Ericson trip!”

FAQs

  • This trip was created exclusively for for childfree women — those who do not have or parent children.

That being said, we have many other amazing trips available to specific groups or to the general public.

If you need help finding a trip that’s right for you, please reach out!

  • Hell no, you won't! In fact, over half our travelers come solo, and they usually leave with a whole new crew of friends that they travel with again and again.

Our Kenya trips are practically designed for people to mix, mingle, and bond over shared experiences.

The beauty of our group is that everyone's there for the same reason: to experience Kenya's wild landscapes and meet cool people along the way. You won't be the odd one out — we're basically creating a readymade friend group for you.

Some of the strongest friendships in our travel community started with "Hi, I'm here alone too!" at the welcome dinner in Nairobi. By the time we're sitting around the campfire under a sky full of stars in the Maasai Mara, you'll forget you ever came solo.

  • The age range on our trips typically lands between 35-50, but honestly, we've had 29-year-olds and 65-year-olds who were the absolute life of the group. It's less about your birth year and more about your mindset.

If you're down for authentic experiences, can roll with unexpected plot twists, and don't mind a little sand in places you didn't know sand could reach, you'll fit right in. Our travelers are united by curiosity and a desire to experience Kenya beyond the Instagram spots – age is just trivia for the "two truths and a lie" games we'll play over dinner.

  • You bet! We realize this is a large investment, so we try to make our trips as affordable as possible by offering payment plans.

There is an up front deposit of $2,500 due at the time of booking, and then 2 additional payments. All payments are due by July 15, 2026.

You are responsible for making payments on time, or you will forfeit your spot without refund.

  • This entirely depends on your spending habits, but you’ll want to budget additional spending money for a couple meals that aren’t included, snacks for camp, as well as alcoholic beverages.

I would budget $30 a day for spending money, plus extra money for shopping if that interests you.

You’ll also want to set aside money to tip our guide, chefs, and driver.

  • Yes, you will need a passport valid beyond May 14, 2027. If it will expire before then, you'll need to renew it ASAP.

If you do not have a passport, we recommend you start the process right away, as it can take several months to receive it. If you need assistance with this, feel free to reach out!

You will need to purchase an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to visit Kenya, which can be purchased online for $35. It takes a few days to receive it electronically after applying. More information will be provided to you in the months leading up to the trip.

  • Yes, travel insurance is required for all of our trips, with a minimum of post-departure/travel medical coverage (typically about $50). There are options to upgrade to trip cancellation coverage + cancel for any reason coverage as well.

If you want to learn more about travel insurance and are looking for a recommendation, you can learn more about our travel insurance partner, Wanderwell, here.

  • We sure hope that’s not the case, but we also realize that life can be unpredictable, and things happen.

    All trip payments are non-refundable.

Filling trip spots is incredibly time-consuming. We are a small boutique travel company, and we unfortunately do not have the ability to refund people if their plans change. Your deposits go directly to our local partners, and they are non-refundable to us as well.

Travel insurance is required for this trip (a minimum of post-departure/travel medical). Trip cancellation coverage is available for purchase and will potentially cover most of your trip costs should you need to cancel for a covered reason.

  • This is a rugged adventure for the intrepid traveler. We'll be sleeping under the African stars and spending our days immersed in nature - tracking wildlife on game drives, hiking through national parks, and exploring by boat. We stay in remote wilderness areas and travel by 4x4, experiencing Kenya's spectacular landscapes and wildlife in their most raw and authentic form.

While this trip is fairly active and we are very on the go, we do have lots of downtime built in, you are not required to participate in all activities, and you’re free to opt out at anytime.

  • Most days have some free time built in so you have time to relax or explore on your own.

In addition, all planned activities are optional, so you are free to opt out at any time if you choose.

All that being said, this trip is designed to show you the best of the best of Kenya and all activities have been personally vetted by us to ensure you’re only seeing things worth seeing. If something isn’t generally liked by the entire group, we don’t include it in the itinerary and leave it for free time.

  • We typically recommend 3-6 months prior to the trip, or as soon as we’ve finalized our group and arrival details. Please do not book your flights until you’ve received the go ahead from us.

We will be in contact with you regularly with reminders and assistance on purchasing fights, visas, insurance, packing, and more.

In the meantime, feel free to set up a flight alert on Google Flights to start monitoring prices. You will be flying in and out of Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO).

  • Safety is relative and can never be guaranteed anywhere, but Kenya is a welcoming destination that's well-suited for group travel.

Traveling with our experienced guides, tour leader, and fellow adventurers provides built-in safety and support throughout the journey. While some areas of Nairobi can be busy and chaotic like any major city, the national parks, conservancies, and tribal areas we visit are well-managed for tourism.

Our orientation provides practical safety tips and cultural guidance to help you travel confidently. For those dreaming of witnessing Africa's iconic wildlife, group travel offers the perfect blend of adventure and security.

Our team's local expertise and established relationships with communities ensure you can focus on the extraordinary experiences rather than logistics or safety concerns.

  • The Yellow Fever vaccination is recommended and required if you're traveling from a yellow fever zone or going to Tanzania or Uganda from Kenya.

The CDC recommends that travelers going to certain areas of Kenya take prescription medicine to prevent malaria. Talk to your doctor about which malaria medication you should take, if any.

We also go over medications in our orientation and give suggestions on things you can bring to prevent getting sick.

Fun Facts

The official languages of Kenya are Swahili and English, but over 60 languages are spoken throughout the country.

March typically has average daily high temperatures from 68°F to 77°F. It can be a little rainy, but is usually much less busy, making it optimal for having wildlife to ourselves.

The currency of Kenya is the Kenyan shilling, and it’s abbreviated as KES.

Kenya's landscape rises from low coastal plains on the Indian Ocean to central highlands, where most of the population lives.

The famous wildlife reserve in Kenya, Maasai Mara, is renowned sightings of the "Big Five" animals (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo).

After leading over 350 people through 10 countries, we’ve learned that while group trips are absolutely life-changing for most people, they're not everyone's cup of tea (or shot of tequila). Before you dive in, let's make sure we're a match:

Vibe Check

You'll thrive with us if:

  • You can roll with the punches when things go sideways (because they will - it's travel, not a scripted TV show)

  • You're cool with scheduled adventures (we've got amazing stuff planned, but if you're the "wake up at 2pm on vacation" type, you’ll be missing out)

  • You understand the whole "strength in numbers" thing means sometimes doing what works for the group vs. your sudden craving for street food at midnight

  • You're ready to embrace the summer camp vibes - shared meals, group transportation, and maybe even a roommate who becomes your new best friend

  • You can vibe with different personalities (spoiler: you won't click with everyone, and that's totally fine)

  • You get excited about culture shock instead of freaking out when things aren't exactly like home (that's kind of the whole point)

Think of it like joining the coolest adventure club you never knew you needed. If you're nodding along to these points, chances are you're gonna fit right in. If you're breaking out in hives just reading this... maybe stick to solo travel for now.

Remember: Travel isn't about being perfect - it's about being open to whatever awesome weirdness comes our way. Because trust me, it will.

Still have questions?

Want to scope out flight prices?

You will be flying in and out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO).

Laura Ericson Group Trips is not responsible for any costs related to flights. You can use this tool to gauge flight prices, but please wait until you get an email from us approximately 6 months prior to your trip to book your flights to ensure you have all of the information needed for booking. We recommend always booking with the airline directly and not from an online travel agency (OTA) like Kayak, etc.
